ACDelco Starters Editorial Review
This ACDELCO starter has some confusion around its specs; it comes with a part number for a 9-tooth direct drive but is actually an 11-tooth gear reduction, suitable for some Chevy engines including 5.0L and 5.7L. It looks identical to a Remy model 96206 gear reduction starter. It has been successfully used as a replacement for the OEM starter on a 1999 GMC Yukon 5.7L, but it is larger in diameter, making installation harder. Customers report mixed experiences with the product; some find it to be a cheap, quality OEM replacement, while others report it failing quickly or even catching fire. The product is not suitable for marine use.
