The Hakko FA-400-04 Smoke and Fume Extractor is a powerful device that reduces soldering fumes and odors. It features an activated carbon filter that traps and neutralizes the chemicals from smoke, making it last longer and be more effective. The filter needs to be regularly checked and replaced according to the amount of use and odor noticed. The extractor works well for soldering jobs and reducing smoke/fumes, but not for processing flammable fumes, welding HVAC small compressor units, or eliminating acrylic nail fumes. The fan is loud but not annoying, does not vibrate, and is made of high-quality plastic. It only draws fumes from about ten inches away and must be positioned close to the source of the smoke or odor. It comes with optional arm mounting for optimal positioning.
