After taking the fall on behalf of the Owada family, Kuroda seeks ruthless vengeance when they fail to fulfill their financial promises. Lastly, Last Days of the Boss sees Sugawara as Nozaki, a laborer who becomes the successor of a crime boss after his murder. Nozaki plots revenge against his rivals, but his relationship with his own sister jeopardizes his standing within the gang. These films are not only important links in Fukasaku's career, but they also showcase his directorial genius and the onscreen power of Toei's greatest yakuza movie stars.
